Linda McCarthy is happy to introduce you to her costume house. Hollywood Costume House of New Zealand Limited. An idea that has been in the making for many years while she was working in Los Angeles as a costumer in the entertainment industry. Linda's experience spans over 20 years with on set work in film, television, commercials and theatre. Her passion has always been drawn to costume houses in which she worked beginning with United American Costume, Costume Rental Corporation, Warner Bros., ABC Studios (Disney) and Fox Studios, in their respective costume departments.
Linda's desire to return to her country of birth in 2008 prompted an expansion of her costume house plans to open her company in New Zealand. First, time was spent in Wellington then a move to Auckland in 2011 opened the opportunity to bring her plans to reality. A sidestep in her plans included opening her retail shop, Linda McCarthy Studio, in Ponsonby, Auckland. The unfortunate times of the last few years found it necessary to make a change to having Linda McCarthy Studio an online store. But there's always a positive in disappointing circumstances and that's where Linda steered back in line with creating the costume house. After a 2 year wait in finding the appropriate facility, Hollywood Costume House of New Zealand is available to be of wardrobe service in your productions.
Hollywood Costume House of New Zealand Limited's policy and procedures are set up similarly as Los Angeles costume houses. Once completed paperwork has been approved the wardrobe department can begin pulling. We have film students, schools and church productions at a lower rate.
Linda invites you to visit her facility (if you don't mind the set up is still in progress) and see what she has on offer. Always building stock, at present there is an assortment of Military, Police, Medical (as well as vintage medical), Modern Men, Women's and children. We carry vintage clothes from 1920's to 1990's, including wedding dresses and separates, shoes, purses, hats, jewellery and other men's and women's accessories. We also have a designer section which includes top designers of the 1970's and 1980's. Included in our stock are fur coats, capes, and scarves from the 1940's to 1980's.
